How do I save money with a Money FCU free checking account?

First, opening the checking account is free. You will not incur a charge for opening the account. There is $5 required to open the membership, but the checking account is free. Second, Money Federal Credit Union saves you in fees that other banks impose on their customers. With Money FCU, there is no monthly maintenance fee, no minimum balance or minimum daily balance requirements, and no minimum transaction requirements. Furthermore, we provide overdraft protection at no additional charge. This service saves return check fees if your account is accidentally in overdraft.

Your Money FCU accounts can be accessed at over 5,500 credit unions in Central New York and throughout the U.S. Deposits or withdrawals can be completed through a teller at any shared branch location. This is how we’re able to serve members across the United States – through a network of credit unions working together to provide account access to their members.

What is the difference between a checking account and a savings account?
Both a checking account and a savings account are deposit accounts for savings. Put simply, the difference between the two is that the savings account is for long-term savings and yields interest, known as dividends, on the funds. In contrast, a personal checking account doesn’t earn any interest and contains temporary savings. The checking account is for short-term holdings and daily transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, bill payments, debit card purchases, and everyday use. The personal checking account holds your funds for day-to-day transactions. It is not an investment opportunity.
